NTUA

National Technical University of Athens has much experience in a wide range of projects that almost always combines practical expertise with engineering research. Professionals with engineering background, and accordingly skills in restoration and rehabilitation procedures proven over many years of practice, are involved in the project.

In addition, NTUA Interdisciplinary Team was responsible for the study and the project of the rehabilitation of the Holy Aedicule of the Holy Sepulchre. This project is at the core of the EDICULA project and is the interconnecting element between the partners. Moreover, NTUA School of Chemical Engineering organizes the Post Graduate Master Program ‘Protection of Monuments’ – Direction ‘Materials and Conservation Interventions’.

It provides advanced education and specialization, develops competencies and skills to solve complex problems, in order to educate researchers and professionals in conservation and restoration of architectural heritage and historic materials.

Antonia Moropoulou is Professor Emeritus at the National Technical University of Athens, Greece and member of the Executive Committee of the Technical Chamber of Greece.

She is a Chemical Engineer, PhD, and she established and acted as Director of the Materials Science and Engineering Laboratory at the School of Chemical Engineering.

She was elected as Contracted Professor in IUAV University of Venice (1993), Visiting Professor at Princeton University (1995-1996) and has served as Vice Rector of Academic Affairs of NTUA (2010-2014) and Vice President of the European Society for Engineering Education – SEFI (2013-2016).

She was entrusted as chief scientific coordinator of the Rehabilitation of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem by the Christian Leaders. She has worked on restoration projects in Hagia Sophia in Istanbul,  the Venetian Fortresses of Rhodes, Rethymnon, Herakleion and Corfu, architectural monuments of Venice, Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Monasteries in Athens, Mount Athos, Creta, Serbia and Kosovo, the Temples of Eleusis, Thission in Athens et als.

She has been scientific coordinator of more than 100 National, European and International research competitive programs and author of 5 books and 612 scientific publications. She has an h-index of 35, with more than 56.000 readings and two billion views of her work.

Anastasios Doulamis is Associate Professor at the School of Rural & Surveying Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). He is author of more 200 papers in the area of multimedia processing and artificial intelligence.

He has served in the organizing committee of many major workshopsand has served as Guest Editor of the Multimedia Tools and Applications, Springer Press and Future Generation Computer Systems, Elsevier Press and Advances in Multimedia Journal, Hidawi Press.  

He is member of the Technical Program Committee of IEEE, the International Conference on Pattern Analysis, the IEEE Fuzzy Conference, and the European Signal Processing Conference. He is Coordinator of several EU funded projects.

Kyriakos Lampropoulos. Chemical Engineer (1994: National Technical University of Athens – NTUA, Greece), MSE (1997: Princeton Univ., USA), PhD (2001: Rutgers Univ., USA). Laboratory Teaching Staff (EDIP), NTUA, Sc. Chem. Eng.. He has participated in more than 20 international and national research programs.. Author and co-author of more than 64 scientific publications incl. 3 book chapters, 16 journal manuscripts, 30 manuscripts in proc. int. conf. h-index 10, 439 total citations by 355 documents (Orchid ID 0000-0002-0500-8285). His main research expertise focuses on the use of non-destructive geophysical techniques for the assessment of the preservation state and structural integrity of built environment, historic buildings and monuments. He has participated in various projects: The rehabilitation of the Holy Aedicule of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, the NDT evaluation of the Plaka Bridge in Epirus, the Katholikon of the Monastery of Varnakova, and others.

Ekaterini Delegou holds a Degree in Chemistry (University of Ioannina), MSE in Protection of Monuments – Materials and Conservation Interventions (NTUA) and PhD in Conservation Science for the protection of Cultural Heritage (NTUA). She has been a Senior Researcher since 2014 in NTUA, School of Chemical Engineering, Department of Materials Science & Engineering. She has participated in more than 20 European & National Projects and she is a co-author of more than 90 scientific papers (h-index: 10). Her fieldσ of expertise and research are focused on the evaluation of the preservation state of historical building materials and decoration elements;the performance evaluation of conservation interventions such as cleaning and water-proofing;the compatibility evaluation of restoration materials, using NDTs, and analytical techniques; the development of GIS thematic maps for management and correlation of building materials/decay/conservation interventions’ data with spatial and environmental data; the development of decision making systems for the performance evaluation of conservation interventions using fuzzy logic and/or neural networks. She is member of the Permanent Scientific Committee of the International Congress “Deterioration and Conservation of Stone”, since 2016.

Nikolaos Moropoulos is a Civil Engineer (NTUA) with an MSc in Operations Research from the University of Minnesota, USA. He is a Senior Associate with Planet SA in Athens. His professional focus is in consulting work, including program and project management, IT strategy, business IT alignment, design and implementation of target operating model, change management. He has over 30 years of experience in program and project management in the United Kingdom, Romania, Serbia, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Israel and Greece. He also served as manager in the Project that rehabilitated the Holy Edicule, in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre , in Jerusalem.

Rallis Ioannis

Ioannis Rallis is a PhD candidate at National Technical University of Athens. He studied mechanical engineering at Technical University of Crete. His education background includes a M.Sc. Degree in Applied Mathematics in Modern Technologies and Financial.

He has participated in many national and EU funded projects (H2020, RISE, Erasmus+) and his interests focus on machine learning, intangible cultural heritage, image processing and video summarization.
